EGGstravaganza!

Silly Rabbit!

We had such a fun Easter season. There were so many eggs around here I didn't know what to do with myself. That is where the title EGGstravaganza came from. We had egg hunts, egg eating of course, egg dying, egg decorating and even an egg crash in the mix! Needless to say, it was an entire month full of fun with eggs!:) Somewhere amidst all the fun we were having with eggs, we managed to fit in a trip to see the Easter Bunny and even a trip to pet some Easter themed animals. Yes, we were super busy! And, minus the little fit Hayden tried to throw for us when visiting the Easter Bunny, the boys loved every.single.minute of it!

Can you tell we had fun playing with our rabbit ears?!?

Oh, and how could I forget our oh so fun baby chick mask?!?
By the end of the season, Sawyer's little mask was pretty
much destroyed by slobber!!! Who knew a chick
mask could be a good teething toy?

So cute!

Although I did attempt to let Hayden dye a few eggs last year at Easter time, it was nothing like this year. This year he HAD to do it and it had to be ALL by himself. Good thing I found some spill proof dying cups at Michaels. If only they had actually been spill proof it might would have helped with the mess!:) I was even going to let Sawyer have a go at dying an egg, but luckily I let Hayden go first and discovered the non(huge emphasis on non here!) spill proof cups. Sawyer will have to have his first dying experience next year when I'm not so afraid he will immediately put his dye stained hands into his mouth! We had such a good time...

I don't know if you can tell here, but Hayden actually placed each egg in the cup, shook it himself and of course oooed and ahhhed at each one when it was sitting in the dye inside the cup. He was so proud of himself and it was super cute to watch. I don't think my brain was fully functioning the day I decided we would dye eggs, because I just left his normal clothes on him like it was actually going to be spill proof. I then had to spend hours getting the dye out of his shirt. Luckily, with the help of my Mom I found some concoction online and the dye came out. Thank goodness! I will be better next year. Promise. Please take note of his blue hands in the bottom right of the collage. That my friends was not a product of the non spill proof cups, that was a product of my non functioning brain that day. Yes, silly me managed to let him pick up an egg right after it had been dyed, resulting in him getting nice blue hands. I was showing him(with plastic gloves on my hands) one of the eggs he had dyed and thought nothing of him picking it up to get a closer look. After all I was holding it. I guess I just forgot I was actually wearing gloves! There is no question about it, my brain definitely wasn't fully functioning! So, although my brain didn't win any awards on egg dying day, we sure did manage to have a great time. I can't wait to do it again next year with all my new knowledge!!!

And this is what Sawyer had fun doing while we were dying the eggs!

Although I didn't think it was the greatest idea for Sawyer to try dying an egg he still got to sit up at the bar with us and take part in the process! I guess a few of my brain cells were working because at least I didn't let him get a hold of any dye! This little teething giraffe was a much better choice!!! He had a good time laughing with us and watching the chaos! On to the decorating...

I found a little package with some Disney stickers for decorating your eggs at Target, and thought it would be perfect because of how much we are into Mickey and friends right now. At least I got something about making eggs right. They loved it! Talk about fun and proud of accomplishment. I heard ta-da after each and every sticker. Egg masterpieces I tell you. Masterpieces! Sawyer didn't exactly sticker an egg, but he had a blast watching Hayden with the stickers. Oh, and Hayden LOVED when this happened...

Yep, Hayden rolled his completed egg right over to Sawyer so he could see his masterpiece. It was then that the part of Sawyer not getting the dye into his mouth went out the window. Before I could even get the camera out of my hand and run over to him he had gotten the egg into his mouth and blue dye on his lips. Luckily me running over to him at full speed scared him enough to drop the egg.

And it ended up looking like this...

The only egg tragedy of the season. My fault. I apologized to the boys many times for the broken egg. It was just too hard to remain calm. I had tried so hard to keep Sawyer from getting into the dye and now not only was he going to get into the dye he was going to bite into an egg. Yikes. I'm pretty sure I scared them both to death with my screaming! But, we ended up with a broken egg and no trip to the emergency room so I guess that it was worth it! Not that an egg or egg dye would send a 7 month old to the emergency room, but the crazy Mom in me was paranoid I would be the one it happened to. The day ended with just a few little dots of blue dye on Sawyers little lips, dye covered hands for Hayden, huge drops of dye on Hayden's shirt, and four beautiful egg masterpieces!:) A fabulous day. Actually, technically speaking the day ended with these cute bunny PJ's...

Don't mind the fact that the hat was too small or that Hayden
just had to have his picture taken too! And of course
I had to include it because it was just so funny.
Mainly the cheese face he made was funny,
but really the way he acts in general
when you are trying to get a pic
of just Sawyer is hilarious
in and of itself. And of
course, Sawyer was
as cute as ever!

Next on the agenda: Easter Bunny!

Sawyer checking him out...

Sawyer loved the Easter Bunny. LOVED. I fully expected him to do great when going to see him because he is just so laid back and easy going, but he surprised even me. When I say I expected him to do great, I mean I figured he wouldn't cry. I had no idea he would check him out like he did and enjoy his time spent "talking" with him. It was so cute to watch. Hayden on the other hand, not so happy. I mean he wasn't in full on tears like the past two years, he just wasn't happy either. I'm pretty sure he would have even had the full blown tears had we allowed it. That is why I said earlier he tried to throw a fit... had we let him do what he wanted he would have had a temper tantrum right there in the middle of Mr. Bunny's cute little set. He did straighten up, he just wasn't happy about it. Let's just say there was NO talking going on between Mr. Bunny and Hayden. Maybe next year!

Not too sure what was going on with Hayden,
but Sawyer sure was happy!:)

Luckily for Hayden the Easter bunny still made a stop by our house on Easter morning...

And both the boys loved it! The bunny had set up a little egg hunt in our living room and left everyone goodies in their Easter baskets. It was such a fun Easter morning. The bunny even remembered Sydney and Bubbles. I'm pretty sure Bubbles loved his new egg decor and Sydney had a blast searching through her basket for her treats! Sawyer had a blast pulling everything out of his basket, and Hayden had tons of fun searching for the eggs the bunny had hidden. He actually ran downstairs, flipped his basket upside down and immediately started hunting the eggs. It was like he didn't even notice anything else in the room. So cute! He opened each and every egg he found and even lined them up on the table. He loved it! I really had no idea Sawyer would even get into Easter morning, but he loved everything about it. Especially getting into his basket. Talk about cute. My face hurt from smiling so much watching him. Priceless.

See what I mean?!?

And how funny is this face?

The Easter Bunny got it right with this teething toy!!
He was even putting the non-teething toys right in
his mouth, so this was the greatest gift ever!

Hayden showing me what was inside his eggs...

Can you tell he was excited?!?

Sweet boys!

Now, for the coverage of the egg hunts...

It all started with a little neighborhood hunt. Talk about cute...

We are lucky to live on a street full of great neighbors. And even better is that all of our kids are around the same age. They have so much fun playing together and the egg hunt was no different. They all had a blast. And Daddy even got to help Sawyer collect his very first Easter Egg!

He'll be an egg hunting pro before long!

Just like his big brother!

The boys enjoyed looking through their eggs together...

And Hayden thoroughly enjoyed dumping
his eggs out over and over!

But more than anything, Hayden loved this
little game of what I like to call
Tree Ball!

Loving it!

Hayden could play this game all day long. You just throw a ball up in a tree and watch it fall down. If you are lucky it will get stuck and you will have to shake the tree to get it to fall. SO.much.fun. I kid you not when I say he could do this forever. It is so entertaining to him. He had a blast playing it with his friends after the egg hunt.

Of course I made us take some family pics...

Hayden also had an egg hunt at school which was super cute! It had rained the day before, so the hunt had to be in the gym, but it was still a lot of fun for the kids. They placed out some of that fake grass you put in baskets to hide the eggs in which was a lot of fun for the kiddos. There is just something about watching tiny little kids hunt eggs that just makes you smile. I don't think I have ever seen so many video cameras and digital cameras in my life. It was hilarious. I meant to get a picture of all the parents capturing moments but never got around to it. I am pretty sure it is etched into my memory forever, but I know y'all would have loved to have seen how funny it was. The teachers did a great job putting it all together and the kids loved it. Thank you We Wonder!

Hayden just could not seem to understand why he couldn't
get up and start as soon as he saw the eggs!:(

The hard to find eggs were his favorite to retrieve!

Hayden was nice enough to let Sawyer chew
on one of the eggs he had found!

Ms. Tanya tried so hard to get all the kids together after the
hunt so the parents could get a picture, but this was
the best we could get. At least they
are all there right?!?

Family pic outside Hayden's classroom!

The last egg hunt of the season for us was a family hunt down Barnesville. It was on actual Easter and you would think by that time Hayden would have been totally over hunting eggs, but not so much. I think he could do it all year long. He had as much fun at this egg hunt as he did at the very first one. I guess kids never get bored of hunting for eggs. They were in different places after all!

I told you he was excited!

Getting help from Grandaddy!

Sawyer was determined to get his egg!

Posing for a pic with Gigi!

And Grandaddy!

These next three pictures are of a boy on a mission...

Look at that determination in his eyes...

I am pretty sure he is thinking "I know exactly what I am going to do..."

Mission accomplished: Steal Grandaddy's glasses!!!

Next up at the egg hunt was the family pics...

Normal and crazy... just crazy most of the time!:)

Even when more of the fam joins in on the fun we
still look more normal in the crazy pose!

And finally... the cutest pictures ever of Sawyer with the flowers! Thank you Uncle Henry for having the family Easter Egg hunt at your house where you had the best yard ever for these pictures!:)

Sawyer's first look at a wildflower... a dandelion!

Love him!

My favorite...

After the family egg hunt Gigi informed Hayden and Sawyer that the Easter Bunny had stopped at her and Grandaddy's house and Auntie May and Uncle Dan's house and left a few goodies for them there as well. Pretty special huh?!? They sure thought so!

Checking out his cool basket...

Sawyer immediately dumped out what the
Easter Bunny left for him at Auntie May's...

And went to town gnawing on the bucket! He loved it!

And to say Hayden had fun with the miniature kite
the bunny left for him at Auntie May's
would be an understatement.
Hours of entertainment!

Not only did we meet up with the Easter Bunny this year, we also got to see a real bunny! There is a little petting zoo that comes to a local toy store every year at this time and they always bring the sweetest animals that love to be petted. It is a lot of fun for the kids so and we try to fit it in if we can.

How cute was he?

Sawyer could not get enough of him!

Remember last year when Hayden almost squeezed the baby chick to death at this event?!? Well this year, it was Sawyer who wanted to let the animals know he was there!

He almost pulled the fur off of this cute little guy. And if you
have ever been grabbed by Sawyer you know just how
powerful that grip of his is. Poor little rabbit. I was
just glad we got his hand away from him
before the rabbit bit it off!

Hayden really wanted to pet this guy. Please note in the first
picture how apprehensive he is about picking up the brush.
He wanted to pet him, he just didn't want to get
close to his face! Smart boy!

And both boys thoroughly enjoyed this little pig. Cutest
little guy you have ever seen! Maybe a baby pig
would be a good pet choice!!! Ha!

Thank you Learning Express for providing us with lots of fun with animals!:) To wrap up all the Easter eggstravaganza you guys know exactly what I did right?!? Pictures of the boys in their cute little outfits of course! We had taken a family picture for Sawyer's dedication a little while back and I used the outfits I had gotten for that for them for Easter. I could have eaten them up they were so cute in them. Enjoy!

The family pic!

Love it!

Precious...

I thought it would be cute to get one of the two of them together, but
come to find out that is pretty hard to accomplish when you
are alone. I did find this one to be cute though. Hayden
thought it was absolutely hilarious when
Sawyer would take his hat off!

I think he saw a plane...

And got really tickled when I called
his name for him to turn around!

So glad he turned for me though... it made for a really cute pic!

Sawyer loved his ride!

And his fingers!

Gotta love that smile!

What a face!

Just love it.

We had a very busy, but very fun Easter season around here. Now maybe we can slow down for just a minute so I can catch up on all my blogging and not have to have such a long post! I do realize this should have been like 4-5 different posts, but I just never had time to get to it so had to put it all in one. I keep saying I will get better, but life keeps getting in the way! We'll see! I hope for more posts shorter in length in the near future!:) Hope everyone had a great Easter!
