It's your turn Sydney

As most of you know, Sydney was our first born child! She is our little maltese and we love her very much. I think she was getting jealous because we hadn't created a post just for her, so here it is!!! It's finally your turn Syd! We wondered when we found out we were going to be having a baby how Sydney would act once he got here. I was sure she would be great with him, but I still kind of had that thought in my head... what if she isn't?!? It turns out she is great, a little jealous of the time we spend with him sometimes, but overall exactly what you would expect with a first born!! One of the funniest things she does is during picture time. I like to have these little "photo sessions" with Hayden and she absolutely does not like to be left out. She sits right by my side the entire time and begs to be in the pictures. She sits so patiently waiting for her turn and sometimes I am able to get them in pics together. Before Hayden was born, I was always taking pictures of her, and just her, so I think she just wants me to remember she is still here! Today I decided I would dedicate some picture taking just to Sydney like the good 'ol days. She LOVED it! I am not even kidding, she posed, smiled, ate her treat and got ready to do it again. We even changed outfits!! We are so lucky to have such a sweet big sister for Hayden. Here are some of the pics I took this morning!

Picture perfect!

Surprise!

Matt will be 30 on March 25th and we had him a surprise party on Saturday night! Family and friends met up at La Cazuela and we had a Mexican fiesta! Matt was completely surprised. He had no idea what was going on and you can see by his face how happy he was! It was the perfect birthday and we are so happy everyone could be a part of it. My Mom got these first few pictures when we were walking in the door...
So excited!!

I got him a cake made at a local bakery here in Cumming and it was really cute. It was a prescription bottle that came from the "Old Man Pharmacy"!! I was so happy with how it turned out and it actually tasted really good.

Our "old man's" cake!

I hope he made some good wishes!!

These next few pictures are from the party as well. I am so happy it was actually a surprise! Thank you to everyone who helped make this a special day for Matt! I know it will be a day he will always remember.

The Thumb

Hayden found his thumb!! Yesterday morning when I went to get Hayden up he was on his side sucking his thumb. Normally I would not wake him up in the mornings, but yesterday he was sleeping so late I thought I better go in there and check on him(not just wait to hear him on the monitor!). To my surprise he was awake, just content with his little thumb. He has always sucked on his fist(well tried to that is... it is too big to fit in his mouth), but never found out that his thumb was useful until yesterday. I wasn't able to get a picture of him in his crib, but later in the day he did it again in his bouncer and I was able to get a picture that time. Hopefully I will catch him again in his crib because it is so cute. It is just as funny seeing him sleeping on his side as it is to see him sucking his thumb. You'll see in the picture of him in the bouncer he is even turned sideways... I guess I need to start using the safety belt! I don't know if it is true for anyone else with kids, but now that he has found his thumb he is sleeping so much more. He has never been good with naps, but the past two days he has slept like a champ(with thumb in mouth). It was to the point I was thinking he was getting sick or something because he was sleeping so much more than usual. I called the nurse and she told me it was normal when they first find their thumb and he may sleep more the first few days getting used to it. My Mom confirmed this so I guess I'll just be happy he is sleeping more! He must be catching up on all the sleep he was missing out on before he found his thumb was useful!!

I need my Lovie and my thumb!!

I have taken quite a few pictures of him playing with toys and even some with his friends, so I will try to get those uploaded and posted within the next few days. Even with him sleeping more, I can't seem to find much extra time!!!

Hayden and the Sun

Hayden has never really been a big fan of the sun. When the sun gets in his eyes he immediately squints his eyes and starts his pout/cry! The problem is... he loves to be outside. We are always looking for ways to keep the sun out of his eyes(the shade on his car seat, a blanket over the car seat, etc.) but nothing is ever really the "perfect" solution. One day while I was out shopping with my Mom, we discovered baby sunglasses! Well, I should say SHE discovered baby sunglasses, because I wasn't exactly in the store with her when she found them. We have seen the sunglasses for babies before, but never ones that actually fit a baby's face like they should. You would think a baby would hate having something like that on his face, but not Hayden... I think he thinks he has died and gone to Heaven! It is SO funny! Thank you Gigi for Hayden's first pair of sunglasses!! He now wears them when he is fussing because of the bright sun being in his eyes. They seem to work wonders! I took these pictures one day when we were going out for a stroll.

Squinting before discovering sunglasses!

I hate when the sun gets in my eyes...

The sun has nothin' on me now!!

Well, they are a little big for him, but as you can see the sunglasses really seem to do the trick. He doesn't even put his hands up by his face and try to get them off or anything. It really is like he is glad you put them on! I am just happy we found a solution because it makes our daily strolls much more enjoyable!!!
